MEET OUR TEAM

Ann Marshall - Owner & Lead Designer

Raised on the farm in Washington, Iowa – Ann’s enjoyed nature, hard physical work & putting her smarts toward a job. Her study in Graphic Design at Iowa State University + love for the outdoors = Natural Groove Landscapes, LLC. This company is a platform to express the love of nature, landscape design and conservation. A very groovy situation that she is grateful for.

OUR PEEPS……..

  • John Marshall

    NGL FINANCIAL ADVISOR

    & CREW MEMBER

John enjoys working the company books, but definitely loves working outdoors digging holes & removing sod even more! John has sat at a desk his whole life. He is deeply familiar with managing and overseeing company finances after a career as CFO in the casino and banking arenas. John says getting physical (and dirty!) is a welcomed change. John makes every tough project more enjoyable, every challenge more engaging, and every financial hurdle easier to maneuver. John makes our team laugh and tells some great stories while up to his elbows in the dirt. (He also resembles Jerry Garcia, if you're old enough to know who that is…)

  • Ty Schaber

    LEAD CREW MEMBER

Ty’s wheelbarrow skills exemplify ALL of his landscaping abilities. Ty literally runs heaping wheelbarrows up the crazy-steep lawns of Dubuque. He pushes himself on strengths needed on the job and has big goals in life, too. Ty has many attributes. His honesty and work ethic are on top of this list. Our clients enjoy & comment on his respectful demeanor. Ty is an honest, hard worker which makes him is the perfect leader for our crew!! Ty is a dedicated freshman at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, training to be an electrical linesman. Ty’s like a son and bro to those on our team, and we are very lucky to have his chill and skill on crew. (Fun Fact: Ty also likes to light ants on fire.)

  • Beau Healey

    CREW MEMBER

Beau has a really good eye for design. This guy is fun & funny, and down to earth. Beau adds a groovy spirit to our team. His youth and free spirit are appreciated each time he’s on the job. He is a freshman at Loras College where he somehow fits in being on the wrestling team and practices jujutsu regularly. So yes, he is a source of strength and smarts on our team, but Beau also brings some powerful Zen energy to our crew. (This said, we’ve learned not to feed him donuts at start of the day … he Smashes them.)

  • Jackson Healey

    CREW MEMBER

Jackson works with us whenever he can. He coaches and teaches in Dubuque, while attending the University of Northern Iowa. Jackson has great judgement & gives sound direction. He’s the big brother of the team. He also makes every lift of "heavy" a personal challenge. He and Beau have had many contests of who can lift the heaviest of stones or move the largest load on our ball cart. (Jackson usually comes out on top… regardless: some good, brotherly competition can sure get the work done faster, ha!)

  • Trey Schaber

    CREW MEMBER

The “Can-Do Dude”. Trey joined our team this summer and jumped in to learn and assist on all levels. Being new to the crew, Trey had no issue performing unfamiliar & difficult tasks in the grueling summer heat. He was awesome help and we were able to trust him immediately. John & I chat about how we feel blessed with wonderful “luck” obtaining high-end workers for our crew, and Trey is no exception. Perhaps it’s a karma thing. Trey’s returned to the University of Iowa for his Junior year - and we look forward to seeing and working with him again next green season! (When asked why a Hawkeye is wearing a Panthers t-shirt, kid said he “just likes it”. That’s how he rolls.)

  • Lizzy Van Paemel

    CREW MEMBER

Lizzy came to the rescue mid-season as we struggled to keep up with maintaining our new landscape projects. This woman was the answer to our prayers during the drought (and the plants thanked their mother nature for her TLC through the hot summer months)! Lizzy took on the challenge of watering every single new plant at every single property. She’s our smooth operator, completing assignments in a stealth-like manner. Our clients barely knew she was there, but the plants felt cold, wet relief from her visits. Lizzy is a key part of Natural Groove’s success in 2023!

…..REPRESENT!

We often say that our crew is composed of the best young adults you could ever meet. Ty Schaber has been on crew for years and became our lead in 2023. His brother, Trey, joined us and now he is standing on foreman ground for 2024. Last season Beau and Lizzy were constant contributors, and we continue to train and gain speed on the group’s groundskeeping expertise. Our crew of 6 bust their butts and we appreciate every hour they contribute! John’s support, both brain & back, continues to boost my little landscape business and adds a joyful spirit to this daily "job". 2023 presented different twists, squirrelly challenges and fantastic opportunities. The Native Roots Program was a special and successful experience. Commercial projects have come into play for our book of business. Change orders continue to be common place and we don’t sweat them. Gabby’s going to step in to assist with design work this-coming season; her architectural studies at Iowa State University put her in that artful space. We’re stoked that our group will continue to enjoy learning the trade and how we can benefit mother nature by beautifying properties.”

- Ann Marshall (Owner)

Ann looks forward to finding like-minded clients & teammates, who share our perspective in creating naturally groovy landscapes……Folks that honor our planet & nature’s many gifts. People who are kind. Cool. Respectful of others.

And of course… those that take time to smell the flowers!
